In addition to reverberant walls with long reverberation times, the architecture of the rooms usually means that mounting options for loudspeakers, lighting fixtures and so on are limited. Not just church services: requirements for concerts, readings, livestreams and more

Today, houses of worship are used in a much more diverse way: since the Covid pandemic, church services are increasingly being broadcast as livestreams. In addition, houses of worship have always been special venues for concerts and other events. With the integrated audio and lighting solutions from Adam Hall Integrated Systems, these heterogeneous requirements can be covered without the need for conversion work and duplicated costs.

The application

The elongated nave has long reverberation times and requires precision sound to avoid further exciting the reverberant stone surfaces. The speakers must be as compact as possible and able to be mounted unobtrusively on the pillars to avoid detracting from the place’s architecture and the act of worship. Additionally, flexible and robust ambient lighting is required for church services, weddings, concerts and other events.

The solution

The column speakers sit almost flush with the columns, thanks to their discreet U-bracket mounting, and provide perfect sound coverage for the nave. Their narrow vertical beam angle (30°) means they also avoid unnecessary reflections on floors and ceilings. The seats in the transept are covered by compact satellite loudspeakers in an array arrangement, expandable with additional modules if required. Lighting is provided by compact RGBW PAR fixtures on the floor. These can be quickly and easily aligned and the beam angle adjusted using diffusers.

The products

The LD Systems MAUI i1 column speakers were developed for acoustically demanding interiors and ensure controlled and even sound distribution with their BEM-optimised tweeter waveguide. The LD Systems CURV 500 D SAT duplex satellites have a narrowly focussed, particularly long-throw sound dispersion, and curved arrays can be formed with additional CURV satellites. The 70 V/100 V connection with the CURV 500 SLA T adapter is wireless, thanks to a patented click mechanism. The Cameo ZENIT P130 RGBW LED PAR fixtures have a sturdy cast aluminium housing and offer beam angles of 8°, 25° or 45°. They can be conveniently controlled via presets and DMX.
