Cameo lights up Halloween special at Djurs Sommerland
An existing light demo with Cameo spotlights served as the basis for the surround experience. Although this was already accompanied by sound, there was nothing comparable in the audio sector. As a result, Jens Kleinhuis, Field Application Engineer Pro Audio at the Adam Hall Group, had the idea of developing a joint project with the sound and lighting solutions from LD Systems and Cameo that would surround the audience with sound in addition to the light show, allowing them to experience different styles of music.
The aim of the new Surround Experience was to present the worlds of the two Adam Hall Group brands to our customers together, to demonstrate the product range of Cameo and LD Systems and to make the complete spectrum of installed event technology visible and audible. The Cameo spotlights installed in the auditorium were used for this purpose, and a 7.1 surround sound system with LD Systems products – including the LD Systems MAILA – was also installed. For the specially created, immersive content, Jens Kleinhuis brought various partners on board whom he knew from his many years of studio and live work and with whom he had always wanted to undertake a joint project.
Based on the structure of a classical symphony, the 7-minute surround experience consists of four movements (or parts): an acoustic guitar part played by Daniel Stelter, guitarist for TV Total and Sing Meinen Song, among others. This is followed by a piano part with orchestral accompaniment, which was recorded in Surround by the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg and then arranged by Matthias Raue. The comes a hip-hop part, which was created in collaboration with producer and engineer Jon Marshall (fat jon), and a final electro-funk part, which was arranged by drum 'n' bass producer KABUKI. Peter Walsh, who is known for his work with Peter Gabriel and Simple Minds among others, was responsible for mixing and mastering the piece. Through the varying music styles and different lighting moods, we are able to show designs and scenes that demonstrate the different features of the various spotlights and loudspeakers.
