When the global tech industry gathers in Barcelona in early March, the Mobile World Congress serves as a platform for the key topics of the future, from connectivity to AI. And this is exactly what Telefónica demonstrated in 2026: in line with the motto “Ready for Next”, an exhibition stand was created that not only showcased innovation but made it tangible. Covering an area of 951 square metres, the stand was one of the largest and most eye-catching at the exhibition. The lighting design for the stand was the work of Spanish lighting designer Chus Fernández, who brought the spatial concept to life with a cohesive lighting scheme and Cameo fixtures from the OPUS® and EVOS® ranges. His approach was to use light not merely as a design element, but as an active tool for guiding visitors.
“My main responsibility as a lighting designer was to strengthen the brand’s visual identity and the visitor experience,” explains Chus Fernández. The challenge: to create an elegant look that consistently incorporates Telefónica’s corporate colours, emphasises the stand’s architecture and intuitively guides visitors through the space. To this end, Chus divided the Telefónica stand into three zones: Agora, Demo and Meeting.
At the heart of the stand was the Agora. Once a term for a gathering place or marketplace, today it serves as a venue for talks, presentations and live sessions. This zone formed the communicative hub of the entire space and needed a ‘live’ feel whilst also being camera-friendly.
Chus Fernández describes the approach as a blend of elegant, theatrical lighting and technical illumination. For lighting people and objects in the Agora area, the lighting designer relied primarily on OPUS® X4 SPOT PROFILE moving heads, which, with their high CRI, ensured that presentations and speakers appeared clean and natural on camera.

In the demo zones, the exhibition stands were consistently coordinated with the exhibitor’s CI colours to keep the focus on the content and products. Alongside the EVOS® W7 for wide light surfaces, Chus Fernández primarily used the OPUS® X PROFILE to create dynamic accents without disrupting the calm, elegant overall look.
For the meeting area, Fernández opted for warmer, more intimate lighting to create a relaxed atmosphere and provide a contrast to the dynamic hustle and bustle of the exhibition.
On a project of this scale, close collaboration between production and design is crucial. Whilst WOW was responsible for technical production, audiovisual technical consultancy and the implementation of all video elements, Experientia carried out the entire creative design and construction of the stand and Adisar was the lighting supplier contracted by WOW for the event.

“The close collaboration between WOW, Experientia and Adisar was essential for coordinating the division of labour between design, technical production and the on-site execution teams,” explains Chus Fernández. “This allowed us to seamlessly integrate the lighting into the scenography and the overall look of the exhibition stand.”
Looking back, the lighting designer is thoroughly satisfied with the choice of Cameo models and their performance:
Chus Fernández“The OPUS® and EVOS® moving heads fully met our high technical quality standards and performed exceptionally well in continuous operation across all four days of the exhibition.”
