Company history

Adam Hall Ltd. was founded in England in the mid-1970s by Mr. Adam Hall. The company was originally housed in a small building in Southend-on-Sea. In Germany, Adam Hall GmbH was established by Mr. David Kirby in 1980, in Oberlauken, about 40 km from Frankfurt. In 1983, Adam Hall GmbH moved from the original barn in Oberlauken to a new warehouse in Usingen. Until 1986, the company was using a beige-and-brown 'Wild West store' logo.

In 1990, the company moved from Usingen to a new warehouse on Siemensstrasse in Neu-Anspach (Hesse, Germany). Although the core business of Adam Hall GmbH has always been flight case hardware, from its early days the company has also distributed a wide range of brand name products to the professional audio industry. The company began distributing Eminence speakers in 1992.

In 1993, David Kirby bought out his partner in both the Adam Hall GmbH and Adam Hall Ltd. companies. The German company became the group headquarters, and also assumed the responsibility for co-ordinating Far East purchasing with the office in Taiwan.

The first production of Defender cable crossovers began around 1994, leading to long-term co-operation with engineer Guntram Pletz.

In 1997, a sales office was opened in Copenhagen to serve the Scandinavian market.

The Palmer company, headed by Martin Schmitz (see photograph dating from 1990), was merged with Adam Hall GmbH in 1998. In 1998, the company moved into the building on Rudolf-Diesel-Strasse in Neu-Anspach. In 2007, Adam Hall GmbH began transferring organisation of the entire international business to Germany.

With over 100 employees worldwide in 2007, Adam Hall, with headquarters in Neu-Anspach, has become one of the largest producers of flight case hardware and fittings. In addition, Adam Hall distributes a wide range of well-known audio, event and industrial products. Eminence and BMS speakers, Defender cable crossovers and event floors, SKB cases, Palmer audio tools and Adam Hall's own audio brand LD Systems are a few examples from the extensive product portfolio.

The European logistics centre, with an area of nearly 20,000 m2, will open in a new industrial park in Neu-Anspach in 2008 (see photograph).
