The first of a new generation of butterfly catches. Using the same compact form and compatible with the recently introduced V3 short, the V5 offers the same strength as previous large butterflies, but is lighter and requires less space.

The new latch mechanism features the advantages of the self closing V3 function, but adds the advantage of not stopping at a slightly open angle, allowing it to be used in situations where a freely opening catch is advantageous.

The integral dish design gives it a new, more modern look and offers some protection for the rivet heads. The compact form can be of special interest where the lid height is an issue.
